Tools and guidesPassword or expiry

Putting a password or an expiry date on a Claude artifact.

Claude has neither. Its sharing settings decide who can see an artifact, and none of them is a password or a date. Export the HTML, upload it to HTMLRadar, and the link you send can have both.

Checked 4 November 2026: Anthropic’s sharing help and artifact retention settings.

Just asking whether the link expires? Read Do Claude artifacts expire?

Upload your HTML report, then add a password or expiry to its link.

That is a claim about documentation, which is the only kind of claim worth making here. Anthropic's page on publishing and sharing artifacts is the page that enumerates the settings, and the word “password” does not appear on it. The documentation does not describe a setting for choosing when an individual link expires. Read on 4 November 2026.

What Claude does offer

ControlWhat it does
Audience, Pro, Max and Ultra“Only you” or “Anyone with the link”. Two settings, no middle ground.
Audience, Team and Enterprise“Only people invited”, “Anyone at” your organisation, or “Anyone with the link”. The last one needs an owner to turn on External sharing or allow that artifact individually.
Access levelCan view, Commenter or Can edit. Some kinds of artifact offer only view or edit.
Invite by e-mail addressIn beta on Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise. The closest thing to a per-person gate: an invitation works only for the person invited, who must sign in with that address. Up to 50 people per artifact.
Allowed domains, on an embedLists the websites that may embed a published artifact. It governs embedding, not who can open the artifact’s own link.
Version pinningA link can show the latest version or one specific version. If you share the latest, viewers see your changes as you make them.
Table 1. Every sharing control Claude documents for an artifact. None of them is a password or a date.

The invitation route is documented separately. Worth knowing: a pending invitation expires after 30 days, an accepted one never does, and if the artifact is also shared with “anyone with the link” then the people you invited get the same access as everyone else regardless of the level you gave them.

Why that is a gap

“Anyone with the link” is a reasonable default for a prototype. It is the wrong setting for a pricing page, a term sheet or a client report, because the link outlives the conversation: it gets forwarded, pasted into a thread, and opened by people you never picked. The other option is to require every reader to hold a Claude account, which your client probably does not. Between “anyone” and “only Claude users” there is nothing.

The HTMLRadar route

  1. Download the artifact as a single, self-contained HTML file.

  2. Upload it to HTMLRadar, or ask Claude to publish it for you through the connector.

  3. Create the share link and set what it should ask for before it opens. Send that link instead of the artifact.

Per-link settingWhat the reader meets
PasswordA password box before the document opens. At least eight characters, and we store only a hash of it.
E-mail gateThe reader gives an address before the document opens, and that address is attached to everything they read.
Allow-listNamed addresses, or whole e-mail domains; add the one-time code so each reader proves the address is theirs.
Expiry dateAfter the date you set, the link stops serving the document. Nothing to remember to switch off.
RevokeCloses one link immediately, without touching the others.

Where this does not help

A password on an HTMLRadar link protects the copy HTMLRadar serves. It does nothing to the artifact still sitting in Claude, so if you already published that one, unpublish it or you have two doors and only one lock. And if the artifact needs Claude to run (it asks Claude questions, reads a connected tool, or keeps stored data), exporting the HTML gives you the page without the behaviour. Those belong in Claude, with Claude’s own sharing settings.

Common questions

Still have a question? hello@htmlradar.com

How do I share a Claude artifact privately with specific people?

In Claude, set Who has access to "Only you" on Pro, Max or Ultra, or "Only people invited" on Team or Enterprise, then invite specific people by e-mail. Each needs a Claude account with that address. For someone without one, download the artifact as an HTML file, upload it to HTMLRadar, allow only their addresses, and turn on "Confirm it with a code" so each reader proves the address is theirs.

Can you password-protect a Claude artifact?

Not through Claude. Anthropic’s help page on publishing and sharing artifacts lists audience levels and access levels only. There is no password, passcode or PIN field on a Claude artifact link, and Anthropic documents none.

Can you set an expiry date on a Claude artifact link?

No expiry-date setting for an individual link is documented. Pending e-mail invitations expire after 30 days; accepted invitations do not expire. This does not guarantee that a link will keep working: sharing changes or deletion can end access, and an organisation can set retention rules that delete artifacts.

What access controls does Claude actually offer?

Audience: on Pro, Max and Ultra plans, "Only you" or "Anyone with the link"; on Team and Enterprise plans, "Only people invited", "Anyone at" your organisation, or "Anyone with the link". Access level: Can view, Commenter or Can edit, and some kinds of artifact offer only view or edit. On Team and Enterprise, an owner can turn on External sharing for the organisation or allow an individual artifact.

How do I password-protect a web page I made with Claude?

Download the artifact as an HTML file, upload it to HTMLRadar, and set the options on the share link: a password of at least eight characters, an e-mail gate, a list of allowed addresses or domains, and an expiry date after which the link stops opening.

You decide who opens it.

A link per person, a one-time code sent to the reader’s inbox, access for their company only, an expiry, and a switch that turns it off.
